Congratulations to 2020 Leadership Studies graduate, Charley Elden!

Charley Elden will receive a Leadership Studies Certificate and a degree in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy from Iowa State University. Congratulations, Charley!

What are your career plans after graduation?

Post-graduation I plan to attend The Basic School in Quantico, VA.

 

What other goals do you have for your life after graduation (hobbies, travel, self-improvement, etc.)? 

Further goals I have post-graduation are to read, draw and continuously improve in all necessary aspect for my profession.

 

What was your favorite Leadership Studies class? And why?

My favorite Leadership Studies class was LD ST 322, “Leadership Styles and Strategies in a Diverse Society”. This course was my favorite because we covered material I will use in my everyday life. Also, Dr.KP was awesome!

 

How do you feel Leadership Studies has made an impact on you?

Leadership Studies has broadened my view of leadership and informed me of various successful leadership styles for different environments.

 

After your time in the program, what is your definition of leadership?

I personally define leadership as inspiring another person, or group of people, to accomplish a mutual goal by consistently demonstrating decisiveness, unselfishness, benevolence and being a living example of what you expect from those that follow you.

 

What activities, clubs, groups were you a member of at ISU?

I’m in NROTC.

 

What is your favorite memory from being at ISU? 

The countless memories of shared success, frustration, pride, pain, and laughter with my friends.

 

What would you say to someone considering a Leadership Studies minor or certificate?

DO IT! It’s not too challenging because it’s something you’ll actually care about and want to learn more about. It’s also very applicable to everyday life both during and after college.
