EXCEL Learning Community Graduate Assistant

Time requirements: .25 FTE – 10 hours/per week for spring 2018 semester

Duties: The Leadership Studies Program at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a graduate assistantship to support the Exploring Careers, Education, and Leadership (EXCEL) learning community. This 10-hours-per-week (.25 FTE) assistantship involves teaching the LD ST 290 service-learning course for EXCEL students in the spring 2018 semester and administrative work to support EXCEL learning community programming, student mentoring, and engagement activities. EXCEL is a learning community targeted toward first-year open-option students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. EXCEL aims to help students explore leadership, majors, and the connection to future careers. Students will find support and guidance in their academic journey by understanding the intersections of their field of study, leadership, and future professional goals. Additional opportunities for development may be possible, building on the successful candidate’s strengths.

Qualifications: Current doctoral students in all colleges or master’s-level students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with an interest in leadership education and development are encouraged to apply. Desired qualifications include familiarity with contemporary leadership education literature, work in or related to leadership, experience in teaching and/or service-learning, and demonstrable administrative experience.
