Understanding the complexities of leadership in building an organization, decision-making styles, communication, managing change, building trust, shared responsibility leadership, creating legacy, prioritizing, effective use of authority, conflict, ethics, integrity, transparency, accountability. Offered on a satisfactory-fail basis only. May not apply toward a degree in engineering.

About the Dean

Sarah Rajala became the 12th dean of the College of Engineering at Iowa State University on April 1, 2013. She leads the largest college on campus and is responsible for more than 9,600 students, 500 faculty and staff, 12 academic majors, multiple research centers and programs, and 11 buildings that comprise the engineering complex. Enrolling in the course

Acceptance into the course is through application only and is only for sophomores, juniors and seniors. Selection is based on demonstrated commitment to leadership development.

In the application, students will be asked to reflect on their thoughts and experiences with leadership.The application is an open application and will save any work completed until “Submit” is hit. It is recommended that students develop responses to the questions in a word processor, edit responses, and when finished, copy and paste responses into the online application.
